The port of Piraeus brings you to Athens, one of the great names of antiquity.

The city of Plato and Socrates, a cradle of Western civilisation and birthplace of democracy. You can step into history on the heights of the Acropolis with its glorious 2,500 years-old Parthenon dating from the Golden Age of Classical Greece. Below, in the heart of the city lies the ancient Plaka district's honeycomb of streets, little shops - and tavernas that come alive at night with the pulse of bouzouki.

• Departing the quayside, we follow the western coastline of Attica along the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal, where a brief stop will be made to view the construction of the four mile (six kilometre) canal.

• On this tour we can discover the delights of Athens with less walking, taking in the sights from a trolley train.

• The crowning feature of our tour will be the visit to Cape Sounion itself, which is dominated by the Temple of Poseidon.

• We begin our tour with a beautiful drive from the port of Piraeus into central Greece. After a comfort stop, we shall continue on to Delphi.
