A lively, charming little harbour town.
A typical Greek environment is created with its long seaside promenade, colourful fishing boats, narrow streets and stairways. Only a small Roman theatre is left from its ancient past, but a shore excursion to Mystras near Sparta offers a look into the incredible past this area has to offer.

From the picturesque harbour of Gythion, it is an approximate one-hour drive through the land of Morea to the site of Mystras, near to the ancient town of Sparta. The city, which was under Byzantine rule in medieval times, was topped by a castle, and was once known as ‘the Florence of the East’.
