Port Said gives access to Cairo, capital of this legend-filled antique land.

Originally a camp for men working on the Suez Canal, Port Said had become a major port by the end of the 19th century, all the maritime powers had consulates here. It’s still an important staging post for big ships passing through the Canal, but the Victorian architecture in the town centre speaks of a wealthy colonial past.
The National Museum has objects from Egypt’s past going back to prehistoric and pharaonic eras. It also has Islamic and Coptic textiles, manuscripts and coins. The Military Museum has displays of Egypt’s conflicts over the years, including early Islamic wars and more recent conflicts with Israel.

  • Our call to Port Said is predominantly to facilitate the operation of shore tours to Cairo and the Pyramids
  • As a mark of respect to Egyptian customs and religions, shoulders and legs should be covered when visiting holy or historic sites.
  • All tours will be escorted by members of the Egyptian tourist Police. (The Tourism Police are the only authority that can decide the number of the Tourist Police Offices that should be escorting the tours. However, we can say that 95 % of the buses are escorted by Tourism Police Officers)
  • Passengers must carry their passport at all times. When leaving the ship for tours, you will have to pass through Immigration (and on your return).
  • Photography and the use of video cameras is totally prohibited in some of the areas.
