As we depart the pier, our coach will take us towards the village of Torre del Lago that overlooks the lake of Massaciuccoli. From here we will embark upon our ecological boat trip of the lake and its surrounding marshland.

As we depart the pier, our coach will take us towards the village of Torre del Lago that overlooks the lake of Massaciuccoli. From here we will embark upon our ecological boat trip of the lake and its surrounding marshland. The lake itself forms part of the natural park of Migliarno, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli, an area protected by the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) and by the Italian League for the Protection of Birds. In addition the marshland provides a rich, colourful flora; eucalyptus, wild poplars, Adlers, tamaricks and a rare carnivorous plant names drosera. On the boat, while sipping a glass of local wine, some of the most famous Puccini operas will be played in order to create a magical atmosphere. Finally, we visit the villa of the famous opera composer, Giacomo Puccini, before returning to our ship. For reference we will spend approximately 45 minutes on the boat (which is partly covered). The music played will be from a CD. Please note that photography is not permitted inside the villa.
