From the quayside, we will join our coach for the drive to Las Salines, Ibiza’s famous salt flats. The area was originally a large lake, but today it has been divided into 40 pools. Salt is one of the oldest industries on the island. The Romans, during their occupation, realised the importance of this commodity and developed a commercial business in it, shipping much back to Rome. Our next stop will be at San Jose; a small, typical village set in picturesque surroundings. Here we will visit its attractive 18th century church. We will have time to stroll at leisure and enjoy the village, noted for its handicrafts. Following our visit to San Jose, we will depart for San Antonio. Once a quiet fishing village, it is now a lively, bustling port which has pioneered tourism on the island. We will have some free time to stroll along the promenade, adorned with fountains, or perhaps browse in the myriad of shops, before we return to our ship in the Port of Ibiza.

This tour involves walking to view Las Salines, and a stroll around San Jose to view the church. All other walking is during the free time spent in San Antonio. Unfortunately it may not always be possible to view inside the church at San Jose, due to religious ceremonies and other functions.
