This tour will enable us to experience the sights and scents at the Freesia centre and spend time relaxing amidst five acres of beautiful gardens at the Gold & Silversmiths Workshop. Departing from the pier, our coach will take us to the Freesia centre where, in amongst the several large glasshouses, we will be able to see the freesias at different stages of their development – from the corm to the early stages. One of the glasshouses is kept in full bloom for us to enjoy the scent and colours of this delicate flower. Next, our coach will take us along the West Coast, turning inland at Rocquaine until we reach the Gold & Silversmiths workshop. The workshop is situated in a country lane, amidst landscaped gardens. Here we shall also have the opportunity to enjoy a tea or coffee and a piece of traditional ‘Guernsey Gache’. Once refreshed we shall drive to the Little Chapel, the smallest consecrated Church in the world, built as a labour of love in early 1900.As we return to St Peter Port, a short visit will be made to the Victorian Gardens at Candie, where specimen trees flourish and the original Victorian glasshouses are still in use. Following free time to explore the gardens independently, we shall reboard our coach. Please note that there is a moderate amount of walking involved in this tour, mostly over sloping, cobbled and uneven terrain. There are approximately ten steps to enter the Little Chapel, as well as a few steps inside if you wish to explore. The Little Chapel is not wheelchair accessible.
