VISTAS - NOVELDA WINE EXPERIENCE
Excursions
- £40 - £50
- approx. 4.5 hours
- Compulsory walking
We begin with a visit to the old quarter of Alicante city, where we shall stop briefly to admire the Town Hall and square before heading to the Heretat de Cesilia Bodega, located approximately one kilometre from the historical centre of Novelda.
We begin with a short sensory activity as we are asked to guess the different spices used in the wines by their scent, before we enjoy a tour of the vineyards. The estate consists of 80 hectares, of which 30 are planted according to variety. Monastrell, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are but a few examples found here.
Continuing, we shall visit the original house where the wine making first began and we can view some of the original machinery that was used before we move on to the modern production area. Here we will learn about the many processes involved in wine making, from the selection of the grapes to the fermenting and bottling processes.
At the end of our tour, we shall have the opportunity to sample some of the produce before returning to the quayside and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves approximately two and a half kilometres (one and a half miles) of compulsory walking, some of which will be over uneven stone and wooden floors. There will be approximately 20 steps to negotiate. This tour is not considered suitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair users. The wine tasting will consist of two glasses of wine for each guest.
