We begin our tour with a drive on the ‘Via Del Sale’, a road which will lead us through the fascinating salt pans of Trapani. The area has been declared a natural reserve and is one of the most important in Sicily for its production of salt. We will have the chance to view the colourful landscapes full of different flora and fauna, along with ancient windmills that were once used for production purposes.
We have an approximate 30 minute stop to view the beautiful surroundings, with opportunities for photos of the lagoon of Stagnone, and take in the atmosphere of the area.
We will then take a short drive to the wineries of Marsala, where we will be able to admire the aged oak barrels containing delicious wines and enjoy a taste for ourselves, including Sicily’s most famous Marsala DOC.
After our tour of the winery, we have a short panoramic tour of Marsala before being driven back to the port to join our ship.
TOUR NOTES: Walking is involved in this tour around the winery, however this tour is suitable for those with limited mobility or wheelchair users providing guests are able to board the coach unaided. The trip to and from Marsala is approximately one hour each way, with toilets available at the photo stop. All flora and fauna are seasonally dependent. Please note that the order of the visits can be reversed.
