TOUR C - ARLES & LES BAUX
Excursions
- 8 hours
- Limited to 45
Upon arrival in Arles, we will view some impressive Roman monuments in the city, including the theatre and the imposing amphitheatre, which date back to the 1st century AD. We shall also see the Church of St Trophime, which was built between the 12th and 15th centuries, and was formerly a cathedral.
Following some free time to explore Arles independently, we then re-board our tour coach and proceed to Les Baux, a remarkable medieval village set on a rocky craig in the heart of the Alpilles. Upon arrival, we head to a local restaurant for lunch, before commencing our visit of the village.
Entering through the Gate of the Three Kings, we shall view the Gothic and Renaissance-style houses, the 12th century Church of St. Vincent, and the 17th century Chapel of the White Penitents. We can then enjoy some free time to browse the area independently, before making our way back to our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves approximately two hours of compulsory walking, most of which will be over cobblestones and uneven ground. There is a total of approximately one hour of free time, where walking is at the discretion of the individual. Please note it is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair users. For reference, toilet facilities are available at the restaurant in Les Baux. Public facilities are available in Arles, however a small charge may be incurred.
