Tour G - Nice & Eze
Excursions
- 4 hours
DESCRIPTION CORRECT FOR 2010
Upon arrival in Nice, we shall see the Promenade des Anglais, a splendid palm-lined boulevard and the legendary Negresco, an imposing hotel with a rococo façade. We shall also see the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, with its vivid ceramics, pink bricks and grey marble beneath six onion domes, which give an exotic touch to the Nice scene.
Continuing, we visit the old city, where tall houses, bright flowers and washing exclude the glare of the sun and keep the streets cool. We will walk along the Cours Saleya, an elegant promenade in Old Nice, where the famous flower market is usually held in the picturesque quarters.
Re-boarding our tour coach we drive along the Middle Corniche, with its scenic views of Villefranche, Cap Ferrat and Beaulieu, before reaching the medieval village of Eze, which is perched on a craggy peak above the Mediterranean. This picturesque village is pedestrianised, therefore we will have some time for a brief walk along the narrow stone streets, prior to our return to the quayside and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves approximately 30 minutes of compulsory walking in Nice. There will be around 30 minutes of free time at both Nice and Eze, where walking is at the discretion of the individual. There may be some steps to negotiate in Eze, and uphill and uneven terrain will be encountered. Unfortunately this tour is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair users. For reference, toilet facilities are available during our stop at Eze Village.
