We will begin our tour by departing from the pier in the direction of the Royal Gardens, commonly known as “Viveros”. The story says that in 1903 the open space was given to the local government in order to be used as a tree nursery. The gardens have been enlarged on different occasions; the last one took place in 1974 for the Iberflora International Exhibition. The park was the first garden in Spain that had a zoological character. From here we will head to the neo-classical garden of Monforte, a well-preserved park with a particular gardening history. We will continue this pleasant tour, visiting the wonderful Botanical Garden, located in the “Huerto de Tramoyers”. It is one of the oldest gardens in town and has its own anecdote. It was created by Antonio José Cavanilles, a dedicated botanic who wanted to test with different kinds of breeds, search for new species and adapt them. Lastly will be our stop as the “Jardines Del Viejo Cauce Del Turia”, places in the old shoreline of the river Turia, whose course was altered after the 1957 flood. It is divided in different sections by bridges, each section with its own characteristics, among them the green sections, the leisure sections and the children’s park of Gulliver. Once we have made our final stop we will reboard our coach for the short journey back to our awaiting ship. This tour involves approximately 2½ hours of walking in total and approximately 22 steps will be encountered in total at all 4 gardens, therefore this tour is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility or passengers using wheelchairs.
