St Malo
Set at the mouth of the River Rance, St Malo is connected to the mainland by a 'Sillon' causeway.
This is one of Brittany's most attractive Channel towns, with a lively fishing port and yacht harbour, and a long sea-faring history (early Saint-Malo sailors gave their name to the 'Malouines', subsequently the Falklands!). The old town is encircled on three sides by the sea and has been beautifully restored after wartime damage. The parapet walk along the imposing medieval ramparts offers superb views of the Emerald Coast.
