This full day will enable us to discover one of France’s most beautiful and renown cities. On our way to Bordeaux, we will drive along the famous “Route Des Chateaux”.

This full day will enable us to discover one of France’s most beautiful and renown cities. On our way to Bordeaux, we will drive along the famous “Route Des Chateaux”. The Medoc Wine Road, which is located between the Gironde estuary and the Landes forest will provide us with magnificent views of vine-covered hills rising as far as the eye can see. Medoc vineyards are orderly and well kept, almost to the point of fanaticism. The region is famous for chateaux produced wines that are nothing short of divine…. Moulis, Listrac, Saint Julien, Saint Estephe, Pauillac, Medoc, Haut Medoc and Margaux. During our journey we will make a photo stop at one of the regions famous Chateaux’s. Upon arrival in Bordeaux we will enjoy a panoramic city tour where land marks we should look out for would include WWII German submarine base, Place De La Bourse (18th century), The river Front (18th Century), the Cailhau Gate (15th Century), the ‘Grosse Cloche’, from the English period former belfry of the Town Hall in the middle ages (14th Century), the Cathedral of Saint Andre (13th Century), the Gambetta Square, the Grand Theatre built by Victor Louis in 1773 – thought to be one of the most beautiful theatres in Europe and a pure work of art from the 18th Century. Our city tour will end at the Place Des Quinconces with its monument to the Girondins of the Revolution, which will be our drop off point before we will be given approximately 3½ hours to explore on our own. We can enjoy some shopping, discovering more about the history of the city, visiting the many fascinating museums, or just simply relaxing in this beautiful French city. Once our time is up we will make our way back to the quayside in Le Verdon to reboard our ship.
