We will depart from Malaga’s pier and drive towards Mijas, passing through pine-clad hills until we reach this picturesque village located at the foothills of the Sierra. Before arriving at Mijas, we will visit the ‘Molino de la Paca’, where we will be able to see the different procedures in virgin olive oil’s formation. Following this stop we will continue to Mijas, which is perched high above Fuengirola and Mijas Costa with spectacular views of the East Coast and surrounding heavily wooded mountains. There are no main thoroughfares here; instead a web of narrow cobbled streets complete with terraces overflowing with geraniums, red tile roofs, and archways are waiting to be discovered. We will have plenty of time here to wander through the village and admire the handicraft shops, particularly their locally made ceramics and leather goods. An alternative way of discovering this attractive little town is to hire a donkey-taxi that will carry the visitor through the most typical streets. Maybe we’ll visit the delightful church just up the hill, immaculately decorated with a terrace affording a splendid panorama of Fuengirola and the coast. Otherwise, we can simply relax with a cup of coffee in one of the many cafés (not included), and enjoy the scenery! On our return to the ship, we will drive along the coastline passing Fuengirola and Torremolinos – two well-known resorts that form part of the Costa del Sol.Please note that this tour involves about 2 ¼ hours of walking, some of which is optional. Some steps and uneven ground may be encountered in Mijas. The cost of the donkey-taxi is not included in the price of the tour, and its availability cannot be guaranteed.
