NAPLES, ITALY

Enjoy one of the most famous summer resorts in the Mediterranean, one that has been since the time of the Ancient Roman Empire.

Our tour begins with a short walk from our ship to the nearby harbour of Naples, where we will board our boat to transfer us to the island of Capri. Upon arrival at the main port of Capri, Marina Grande, we will travel up to Anacapri Village to visit the famous Villa San Michele – an ancient property built in the ruins of one of Tiberius’s Palaces. It was taken over by the Swedish doctor and author Axel Munthe, the writer of the famous Life of San Michele, who made the property his home. The villa is now a museum containing his paintings and furnishings.

We then proceed to Capri Village, where a typical Italian lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Following lunch, we can enjoy some free time to browse the area. At the end of our visit, we will be transferred from the main square of Capri, La Piazzetta, to the landing pier, where we will take the boat back to Naples.

TOUR NOTES: This tour includes a moderate amount of walking and uphill terrain will be encountered (some areas may be steep). There are some steps to negotiate at Villa San Michele, and approximately ten to 15 steps will be encountered at our lunch venue. Unfortunately this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or passengers with limited mobility. Please note that the boat used to transfer us to the Isle of Capri is not exclusive to Fred. Olsen passengers. Toilet facilities are available onboard.
