From the pier our tour departs for Gernika, where we will have the opportunity to admire the best of this historical capital: the Casa de Juntas (House of Parliament for Vizcaya) with its symbolic oak tree, the Church of Santa Maria, the Park of Peace and the ‘fronton’ courts, where the Basque people practise their national game of Pelota Vasca.

Continuing towards the beautiful Basque Coast, picturesque and full of colour, we travel through Mundaka, a pretty fishing village located in a nature reserve, to Bermeo, an important deep-sea fishing port on the Cantabrian coast, for some brief sightseeing. Following the coast, where the blue of the sea contrasts with the green of the landscape, we arrive in Bakio for a visit to a ‘Txakoli’ cellar. ‘Txakoli’ means ‘young wine’, and it is a very important product of the Basque country. Here we will also enjoy some local appetisers. Approximately 2½ hours of walking is involved. Steps will be encountered (several steps to visit the restrooms at the Txakoli cellar), as will cobblestones.
