CEUTA, SPANISH MOROCCO

Enjoy traditional Moroccan culture in the city of Tetouan.

Tetouan, the gem of the Rif Mountains, is one of the most typical and beautiful towns of Morocco, located approximately 40 kilometres from Ceuta.

Upon arrival in Tetouan, we begin our walking tour through the modern part of the town, before continuing through the old city centre, with its Medina, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. This busy area will offer an insight into typical Moroccan everyday life, and it is possible we may see country women demonstrating their typical dress and selling home-made products including goat’s cheese and Moroccan pastry, as well as fruit and vegetables.

Following our interesting visit, we stop at a local restaurant for refreshments and a folkloric performance before returning to Ceuta and our awaiting ship.

TOUR NOTES: This tour involves approximately one and a half hours of walking over varying terrains, and there are some steps to negotiate. Unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchair users. Passengers are advised to wear flat, comfortable walking shoes. This tour may operate in a different order to that described. Please note that visiting Tetouan requires passing through the Moroccan border, therefore passengers require their passports AND a photocopy. Passports will be held by Customs and returned to passengers upon arrival back in Spain. Participants are required to fill out immigration forms prior to the start of this tour. Refreshments include mint tea or a soft drink, and a sweet Moroccan pastry.
