This is a walking tour designed for passengers with no difficulty in walking long distances and over uneven terrain. This conservation tour has been the basis for saving the Indigenous Flycatcher – Kakerori Bird – found only on Rarotonga. Over the years the birds numbers have dwindled as a result of predator numbers increasing. Our tour has provided the landowners with the catalyst they needed to conduct research into various means of preserving and promoting the growth in numbers of the Kakerori. Our tour will take us to the conservation area where we shall begin our search for the rare Kakerori Bird.
Please note that this tour is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair passengers, as we shall be walking for approximately 1 ¾ hours over uneven and varied terrain. Comfortable walking shoes are a must and do not forget your insect repellent. As with all creatures in their natural habitat, we cannot guarantee the presence of the Kakerori Bird, and tickets are non-refundable should a sighting not occur.
