CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

This tour will allow us to discover Stellenbosch, the undisputed heart of the Winelands and sample the delights of one of South Africa’s most important wine regions.

Named after its founder, Governor Simon van der Stel who discovered the broad fertile valley of the Eerste River in 1679, today this is one of South Africa’s premier wine-producing regions. Stellenbosch has one of the most beautiful settings of all South Africa’s inland towns, with the preservation of its original planning of oak-lined streets, clear water furrows and classic architecture. Surrounded by vineyards, orchards and the peaks of Simonsberg, it presents a particularly spectacular sight. The best way to explore Stellenbosch is by foot and during our guided walking tour our guide will introduce us to this University town.

We will then make a visit to one of the 40 traditional wine estates in the Stellenbosch areas where we will participate in a wine-tasting session and gain a glimpse of the fascinating skills practised in the cellar.

Tour Notes: This tour will include approximately 1 hour of walking with our guide and approximately 40 minutes walking inside the museum. A few steps will be encountered at the cellar. A bottle of mineral water will be supplied.
