Enjoy one of the most exciting, high-adrenaline, edge-of-your-seat rides available! This jet boat ride provides breathtaking thrills, as we experience the power acceleration and G-force turns of these high-performance boats. At points we will pass within what seems like inches of various obstacles (we can relax in the knowledge that the operator and drivers have a proven safety record.)Our adventure begins as an English-speaking guide meets us at the pier, and escorts us on an approximate 45 minute ride to the Shotover base. Along the way, the bus will make a brief stop at El Mirador, so that we may enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of La Bahia. Soon we will arrive at the base, where the jet boat awaits us.Then it’s time for a mind-blowing ride; we will blast off from a sandy beach in the heart of the steamy jungle. We should hang on tightly as our driver accelerates through twists and turns in this highly manoeuvrable jet boat. This is our chance to feel the wind on our face, while we travel over the water at top speeds and perform dizzying 360 degree spins and hairpin turns. We shall soar through mangroves of the Puerto Marques tropical lagoon, going right under the canopy; admire the view of the amazing trunks and root structures reaching into the deep, rich jungle waters. We may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some of the abundant wildlife in this lagoon, including parrots and flamingos.After a thoroughly exhilarating time, we return to base, from where the bus awaits to take us back to our ship.Passengers should be in good health to participate in this adventurous, high-speed tour; we will reach speeds of up to 40-50 knots. Children must be 8 years or over to take part. The jet boat ride lasts for approximately 45 minutes. Life jackets are supplied and are compulsory. An insurance waiver must be signed before participation. We recommend that you wear a swimming costume under casual clothes (ie T-shirt and shoes), and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet – you will get wet on this tour! There are no changing room facilities as such, just restrooms. It is not advisable to bring expensive items with you.
