Departing from the pier by coach we will be driven along the famous Via Gramsci in order to reach the centre of the town and to admire the main monuments of this Ancient Sea Republic. From the coach we will see the famous Aquarium of Genoa, built in 1992 in front of Palazzo S. Giorgio, once the seat of the Captain of People and the first bank in Italy. We will continue along Piazza Caricamento to see the Expo Area, probably one of the most famous areas in the world that is full of cinemas, libraries and shops. The continuing drive will take us to the sea promenade Corso Italia, the waterfront of the town crossing the district of Boccadasse until the bay of 5th May. From this bay Giuseppe Garibaldi sailed from Genoa to Sicily on the 5th May 1870. As we make our return journey to our ship we will be taken across the residential district of Albaro, which today is home to approximately 40,000 inhabitants. Once back in the centre of Genoa and not far from the beautiful Piazza de Ferrari, the heart of the town dominated by a wonderful bronze fountain and overlooked by the Carlo Felice Theatre, we will make a stop at Columbus’s House, believed to be his place of birth. After a short stop we will proceed by coach up to the hill of Carignano to have a complete view over the centre and then back down to Piazza della Vittoria with the Arch to the death during the first World War. There is a approximately 30 minutes of walking on this tour which will involve 2 or 3 steps to reach Columbus’s house.
