NOUMEA, NEW CALEDONIA

Our tour combines a panoramic tour of the city landmarks, bays and beaches, with a wine and cheese tasting at a hotel’s poolside restaurant. This could be the most relaxing way to see Noumea.

Leaving from the passenger terminal, we drive through the main city centre, Coconut Square, pass by the French High commissioner’s residence to FOL lookout point. Here we will have a view of the Black Watch docked at the port, the city centre, Cathedral and Nickel Plant.

Continuing on our way we travel towards the Port Moselle Marina and the Southern Province Government House. We go past Baie de l’Orphelinat, Port Plaisance Shopping Centre, the Yacht club and the Marina’s housing complex. We will see the Bay des Citrons, one of the most popular tourist beaches after which we pass by Anse Vata Beach – a paradise for water sports lovers.

Next we proceed to the Ouen Toro lookout point for a view of the world’s largest lagoon. From this vantagepoint at the tip of the peninsular, which is also home to a dignified World War II memorial, we will gain an excellent view of the bays and beaches, across the lagoon, to small marine reserve islands with fringing coral reefs.

We continue to a local hotel, where we will be served with a variety of local wines and cheeses. A wine specialist Sommelier will be at our disposal for any questions we may have about the wines we will taste. An opportunity is available for us to make some exclusive purchases of our own.

Afterwards we make our way back towards the centre of the city and our awaiting ship.

TOUR NOTES: This tour includes limited walking at the stops, with three steps at the restaurant to negotiate. It should be noted that there will not be an alternative to wine available with the cheese.
