This tour starts with a drive along the bustling waterfront of Santarem, where boats dock from all over the Amazon. Since boats are the main mode of transportation for people in this region, it is common to see both passenger and cargo vessels transporting many different products to the market.We continue with a visit to Santarem’s Cathedral, and stop at a lookout point for a view of the Wedding of the Waters. Afterwards we proceed to the Town Hall Museum for an inside visit. Now we drive to a native village and visit the Casa da Farinha, an old manioc flours factory where we can also see rubber trees and other native species.Please note that this tour involves walking over uneven ground for approximately 200 metres (650 feet), during the visit the Casa da Farinha; around 20 minutes of walking in the Town Hall Museum; and 10 minutes in the Cathedral, plus 8-12 steps. Transport will be by local buses, as air-conditioned vehicles are not available in Santarem. Complimentary mineral water is supplied.
