The history of steam baths goes back to the millennia. Many of the natural spas in Turkey were enjoyed by ancient civilisations. Seljuk and Ottoman Turks built elaborate baths to serve their communities. On this tour we will experience a true Turkish tradition. We will proceed to the Armutalan Hamam for a sensual and refreshing afternoon of relaxation! As we enter the circular room, be prepared for the hot steam to soak into our skin. Built into the marble seating areas are water fountains where we can pour cool water over ourselves. As the temperature rises, our pores open up and our skin becomes silky and smooth. We are then prepared for the exfoliation, which is performed by a masseur with a mitten. Onwards to the soap sudding, the funniest part of the experience – a large muslin bag filled with white suds will be massaged over our skin. The final stages of the Hamam involve an invigorating shower followed by a ‘body wrap’ with fluffy towels. Feeling refreshed from our Turkish bath, we shall rejoin our coach for a guided drive of the city, and if time permits we may have some free time to perhaps purchase a souvenir to remind us of our memorable day.

Please remember to take your swimming suit with you; slippers, scrub, soap and towels will be supplied upon arrival at the Hamam. Please be advised that any further treatments are not included and these will need to be paid locally. The Hamam is not recommended for passengers with heart problems; and is unsuitable for children. This tour may be operated in reverse order depending upon traffic conditions.
