Greenland’s inland icecap produces 250 million tonnes of icebergs every summer. Their final journey begins when they break off from glaciers. One of these glaciers is the Qoroq Glacier near Narsarsuaq, which we will reach by local boat in approximately 30 minutes

We understand that this tour may be one of the highlights of your cruise, but please appreciate that once the capacity has been reached it will be very difficult for us to secure further departures – your understanding with this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Greenland’s inland icecap produces 250 million tonnes of icebergs every summer. Their final journey begins when they break off from glaciers. One of these glaciers is the Qoroq Glacier near Narsarsuaq, which we will reach by local boat in approximately 30 minutes. Cruising between icebergs, and sailing into the fjord, we shall see the glacier in the distance. (We cannot get too close, as icebergs are packed several kilometres in front of it.) The captain will stop the engine in order for us to enjoy the absolute silence of the surroundings. A warm drink (tea or coffee) will be available onboard. A degree of mobility is required for getting on and off the boat. On most boats there will be a guide, however, on smaller vessels the captain will also act as the guide. Boats used will carry between 12 and 36 passengers; they may not be covered and will probably not have toilet facilities. Passengers may be required to stand on deck to get the best view of the ice. Do not forget to wrap up warm, in layers of clothing.
