Brave the wild rapids on this adventurous rafting excursion that will take us through the canyon of the spectacular Papagayo River. We will negotiate strong currents that will carry us on an unexpected course past incredible rock formations, cliffs and – with luck – exotic wildlife.Our adventure begins as an English-speaking guide greets us at the pier. We will then be transported to Pueblo Bravo (a drive of approximately 60 minutes), where we will receive an instructional safety briefing. Then it’s on to the launch site on the Papagayo River, where we will board our raft.Now it’s time to break into the untamed water and feel the rocking and rolling motion, as we take hold of our paddle and bump and jump along to the rhythm of the river. We should brace ourselves for the grand finale, known as the ‘surprise rapid’, which will leave us breathless!After around two hours, we return to the launch site to be transferred back to Pueblo Bravo, where lunch has been prepared. Then, with many a tale to tell, we return to our ship following this experience of a lifetime.This tour is only for the very fit (and strong swimmers) who are looking for adventure – this is not a sedate cruise down a tranquil river! Class II rapids will be encountered, so check before booking this tour that your travel insurance covers you for participation. An insurance waiver must be signed before participation. Only children aged 10 years or over may take part. All safety equipment is provided. Come already wearing your swimming costume under casual clothes, and wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (you will get very wet on this tour). There will be some walking over uneven terrain, including a walk up and down the hill to the launching site and steps to negotiate. Please do not bring expensive items with you. A packed lunch will be provided. Each raft will hold approximately 5-6 passengers. It is strongly recommended that pregnant women, people suffering from neck and/or back injuries or individuals that cannot handle intense movement, do not participate on this tour.
