Discover the highlights and rich cultural heritage of Odessa, which for centuries has been inspiration to artists, poets, writers and musicians. We take a short, pleasant drive to the Museum of Local history. Designed by Russian architect Gonsiorivsky, the palace represents revolutionary ideas of the last century. Continuing, we will visit the mansion of Count Tolstoy, now home to the scientist’s club of Odessa. Among the exhibits there is a collection of photographs and furniture that once belonged to count Mikhali Tolstoy, a cousin of to Leo Tolstoy, the outstanding Russian author. Our next stop is at Gagarin’s Palace, now the Museum of Literature; a guided tour will allow us to absorb the atmosphere of this 19th century Russian noble family’s home. The Museum’s collection includes about 40,000 exhibits. Once we have completed our tour, a violin concert performed by the talented students of the Stoliarksy Musical School will be performed in one of the halls. Refreshments will be served before the performance. Please note that there are approximately 28 steps at Novikov’s estate, approximately 26 steps at the Mansion of Count Tolstoy and approximately 34 steps at Gagarin’s Palace. The order of visits may be reversed in order to avoid congestion. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
