After departing from the pier, we will first take the panoramic coastal road, climbing along the hill of Posillipo, the residential area of the city, boasting the most exciting views of the whole city and the Gulf of Naples. With its three islands: Ischia, Procida and Capri, on the horizon the Mount Vesuvius in the background, we will have a stop to admire the view and for photographic opportunities. We will travel to the seafront, along the road named via Caracciolo, after the writer Francesco Caracciolo, and through the district of Santa Lucia where we will be able to admire the Castel Dell’Ovo, before arriving at the Piazza Plebiscito. From our coach we can enjoy viewing the Royal Palace, which is adorned with eight statues which represent the dynasties that have ruled Naples, including Greek, Roman, Gothic, Byzantine, Norman, Spanish, Bourbon & Italian. We will also be able to see the San Carlo Opera House – one of the most famous opera houses in the world – and the Maschio Angioino Castle, built by Charles of Anjou. Remodelled by one of the Aragon Kings, the castle has been slowly restored over the years, to repair and preserve its original structure. We will be able to enjoy some free time before returning to our awaiting ship. Please note that this tour is mostly a driving tour. We do have some free time on this tour; therefore any walking is at your own discretion. The order of sights may be reversed according to traffic conditions.
