Departing from the quayside, we first take the panoramic coastal road, climbing the hill of Posillipo (the residential area of the city), which boasts the most exciting views of the whole city and the Gulf of Naples. We will have a brief photo stop to admire the view of the Gulf with its three islands – Ischia, Procida and Capri – on the horizon and Mount Vesuvius in the background.
Our tour proceeds to the centre of Naples, where we will be able to see the façade of the Royal Palace. We shall also see the Royal San Carlo – one of the most famous opera houses in the world, and the largest opera house in Italy.
Next we will see the Maschio Angiono Castle, which was built by Charles of Anjou. Remodelled by one of the Aragon Kings, the castle has been slowly restored over the years to repair and preserve its original structure.
At the end of our city tour, we can enjoy some free time to explore further, before returning to the quayside and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This is primarily a coach tour, which involves little walking. The amount of walking during the period of free time is at the discretion of the individual. Dependent upon traffic conditions, the order of sights may be visited in a different order to that described.
