We will be able to explore both, the beautiful Sian Kaan biosphere with its variety of wildlife and jungle paths, and the ruins of the ancient Mayan City of Muyil! This is a tour for Mayan culture lovers who have visited the other ruin sites. Our guide will greet us at the quayside and lead us to our tour coach, where we will begin our scenic and informative drive. Upon our arrival at the ruins, we will discover the 56ft high pyramid ‘El Castillo’ as well as many other partially excavated structures which are still semi-covered in jungle growth. A bridged path will then lead us through parts of the Sian Kaan Biosphere that is home to dense vegetation, Chicle gum trees and various plants used for medicinal purposes. We might also possibly spot some of the tropical birds and fauna that reside here. As the path continues we will be lead to the Muyil fresh water lagoon – once used by the Mayans as a trade rout to the Caribbean.A bottle of complimentary water will be included with this tour. Sun protection, bug spray and comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. There is a government tax of US $5-$8 on the use of video cameras (correct at the time of printing.) The guide will decide upon the specific route through the ruins and biosphere. This tour has a considerable amount of walking and is designed for active, fit people. Passengers are kindly advised that they are not allowed to bring food and drink into the archaeological site or biosphere. The grounds of the ruins and jungle path are rough and uneven and may be slippery, passengers are advised to take extra caution.
