Rafael Larco Hoyle is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Peruvian archaeology. Born in 1901 in the Chicama Valley, he was first exposed to ancient Peruvian artworks through the outstanding collections of his father, for whom the Museo Arqueológico Rafael Larco Herrera was named more than two decades later. This fascinating museum is famed for its display of erotic pottery. After an interesting visit to the Larco Herrera Museum, we continue our tour with a stop at the Indian Market in the district of Miraflores. Here we will find pottery and typical handicraft for us to purchase as a souvenir of our time in Peru. On this tour we shall be walking around both the Larco Herrera Museum and the Indian Market; some steps are likely to be encountered.
