Guided by a skilled professional who qualified at the military CIGS (Centre for Intensive Guerrilla War in Rainforest), this tour takes us on a walk with a difference…Boarding a regional riverboat, we will cruise for approximately 45 minutes on the Rio Negro to reach Guedes Lake. Here we disembark at the local wooden pier, and meet a lecturer who has a vast experience in jungle survival, for a talk about the rainforest and what, with luck, we will see along the trail. Our well-trained guide will now lead us through the jungle for a close-up look at the wonderful surroundings. During our walk, there will be several stops where the guide will explain survival techniques such as how to construct a shelter or find a climbing plant containing drinking water.Following our jungle trek, we will reboard our boat for the return journey to the floating pier in Manaus. Please note that this is a strenuous tour with a substantial amount of walking involved (approximately 2 hours), and around 45 wooden steps to climb, therefore participating passengers should be in good health. The wooden steps leading up to the boardwalk may be slippery, so please be careful. We recommend wearing light trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, comfortable walking shoes or boots and insect repellent. Binoculars may add to your enjoyment and a camera will capture those magic moments. Due to the unpredictable nature of wildlife, we are unable to guarantee sightings of any creature, although with luck we may see monkeys and exotic birds. The trek is more an opportunity to learn about jungle survival. Depending on the number of participants, speedboats rather than riverboats may be used in the transfer to and from the start of the jungle trail. Complimentary mineral water is supplied.
