APAI, SOMOA

Boarding our coach from the pier we will make a short drive to Mulinu’u Peninsula where we will make a stop at the fresh produce market. An abundance of produce from the rich soil will be available to view or buy. A visit to this market is a must, it has fresh fruits, vegetables, handicraft, souvenirs, kava, and cooked food.

On leaving the market we will make our way, through plantations, towards the University of the South Pacific Agricultural Campus. We will make a slow drive through the USP campus where cross breeding of various crops are experimented.

Our next stop will be made at the Moamoa Theological College to view an old Cathedral with exquisite Parisian stained windows.

The final stop for the day will be made at Robert Louis Stevenson’s former homes, now a museum, with settings during the period when he was residing in Samoa. The viist of the museum will be a tour within itself that will be conducted by knowledgable museum staff. The grounds at “Vailima” are well maintained with local indigenous plants and flowers that boasts a tropical haven. Cultural entertainment and light refreshments of chilled local fruits in season, bottled water and local fruit juice will be served at the museum patio before we make our return journey back to our awaiting ship.

TOUR NOTES: Please be aware that during our visit to the Maomoa Cathedral approximately 25 steps will be encountered in order to enter the building and similarly approximately 24 steps will be encountered to enter the museum. Toilets will be available at R.L Stevenson’s museum.
