From the harbour, we travel into the city centre to Kärnan (the keep) – the remains of a 14th century battlement. Here we will enjoy an extensive panoramic view of Helsingborg and, across the sound, Denmark. From Stortorget (the main square) and its prominent neo Gothic Town Hall, we pass the half timbered Jacob Hansen’s House, dating from 1641, as we drive north along the coast to Sofiero, for our next stop. Formerly the summer residence of the late King, this stately manor house is known especially for its grounds, and its rhododendrons. On our return to the city centre, we travel through the nature reserve of Pålsjö Forest. Proceeding south we reach Ramlösa Spring, dating from the early 1700’s and set in a lovely naturally landscaped ravine. After spending some time here we will return to Helsingborg and our awaiting ship.
This tour involves approximately 300 metres (984 feet) of walking at Kärnan (plus many steps), 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) at Sofiero, and 200 metres (656 feet) at the spring, including a slope – uneven ground may be encountered. All other walking is optional. It is not suitable for wheelchair users.
