CADIZ, SPAIN
For those of us who enjoy watching flamenco dancing and a drop of sherry, this is the tour to choose.
Departing the pier, we drive to Puerto de Santa Maria – a lively harbour, famous for its fish and wine, both of which are principle sources of income for the town’s inhabitants. Here we will find the renowned Gutierrez Colosia wine cellars, as well as restaurants offering the best of the day’s catch.
Upon arrival here, we head straight to the Gutierrez Colosia cellars to enjoy wine tasting and an extraordinary flamenco performance. The cellars, built near the River Guadalete, were founded in 1838 and are active year-round. Here the dry east coast wind mixes with the humid west wind, helping to maintain the optimum growing temperatures for grapes.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves little walking over uneven terrain, and there are a few steps to negotiate, however ramps can be provided if necessary. Toilet facilities are available at the wine cellar.
