Our tour will take us deep into one of America’s largest National Parks, as we are invited to explore the natural wonder of the Everglades Safari Park from the comfort of our specially designed airboat.Upon our arrival at the Everglades, we will board our airboat for an approximate 30-minute journey through this unique Eco system. With a flat bottom and large driving propeller at the stern, the airboat is able to skim the surface of the shallow waters and traverse this fascinating ‘ Sea of Grass’ – a name the native Seminole Indians applied to the land because of the sawgrass that is a vital part of the Everglades’ natural filtering system. Here we will come face to face with alligators, exotic birds and native fish. Throughout our journey, our experienced guide will introduce us to the unique eco-system of the park as we pass sawgrass prairies, mangrove and cypress swamps, pinelands and hardwood hammocks. Known for its rich bird life, particularly large wading birds, we are advised to be on the look out for roseate spoonbill, wood stork, great blue heron and a variety of egrets. It is also the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles exist side by side.Following our airboat ride, we will be invited to explore the park independently. We may like to visit the Reptile show, which will provide us with an informative and interactive opportunity to become familiar with the features of the American alligators, or perhaps we may choose to follow the jungle trail, which leads to an alligator farm featuring American Alligators, a crocodile exhibit, and many other species from around the world. Please note that passengers will need to negotiate a deep step in order to board and disembark the airboat. For reference, the boats used will not have toilet facilities onboard. Walking during this tour will be during our free time and will therefore be at our own discretion, for reference the type of terrain you can expect to encounter is paved pathways and wooden-boardwalk-style paths over the water. You might like to bring earplugs with you, as the noise from the airboat can be very loud. We recommend that if you wear a hat it should be securely fastened.
