Join us for a trip into the colourful past and charming present of the most popular cruise ship destination in Mexico! We will be greeted at the pier by our English-speaking guide before boarding our tour coach for a scenic drive around the island of Cozumel. Our guide will provide an interesting narration of the largest inhabited island of Mexico and its background. Our first stop is the oldest settlement on the island, El Cedral. Here we will learn about the ancient history of the Mayan culture that first inhabited this tiny village, where the first Catholic service was held in Mexico.Next, we continue to the southern tip of the island, where we will see the untamed beaches on our way to El Mirador, a popular natural limestone formation for a photo opportunity. We will also be invited to get to know a real Tequila factory and maybe even sample some Tequila. Our tour will then take us back into town for a stop at Cozumel’s shopping district – We may also choose to view the exhibits at Cozumel’s museum with or guide (or at our own pace). How much walking involved is at the discretion of the individual. Passengers may choose to stay in town and return to our ship later, at their own expense. The grounds at El Mirador consist of uneven limestone and extra caution should be taken. We will have the option of taking the Museum of Cozumel guided tour or free time for shopping. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and insect repellent are all recommended.
