COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

We start our exploration of this fascinating and historic Baltic capital city with a visit to its most cherished landmark - the Little Mermaid, inspired by the fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen, sits on a rock in Copenhagen harbour and gazes longingly out to sea.

We will also have a sightseeing drive past the 17th century fortress of Kastellet and into the district of Frederiksstad – home of the Royal Winter Residence of Amalienborg since the 1750s. We will have a short stop here with a short walk to the octagonal Amalienborg Palace Square – one of Europe’s most beautiful squares, surrounded by four identical rococo palaces and flanked by the massive Marble Church on one side and the Amalie Gardens on the other.

Continuing on our city drive, further photo stops are made at the massive neo-baroque Christiansborg Palace which today houses the Danish Parliament and the fairy tale style Rosenborg Castle, located inside the King’s Garden.

Next, it is on to the Absolut Ice Bar. The Absolut Ice Bar is kept at –5o Celsius all year round and everything inside is made out of crystal clear ice transported especially from the Torne River in Jukkasjarvi, 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden. We shall step into an environment where the walls, bar, tables, and even our own personal glass with a vodka cocktail is made out of the purest ice. After our visit here, we will return by coach to our ship.

TOUR NOTES: This tour is not suitable for passengers in wheelchairs. All guests are provided with a thermal cape and gloves before entering the ice bar – you are advised not to wear flimsy shoes or sandals due to the cold floor. One complimentary vodka based drink, or non-alcoholic drink, will be served per person. The legal drinking age in Denmark is 18 – guests under 18 years will be served a non-alcoholic drink. The operation of this tour is dependent upon availability for groups at the ice bar. The tour route may vary due to traffic conditions.
