Our tour will allow us to explore the world famous Mayan ruins of Chichen-Itza, one of the most important and exciting archaeological sites on the American continent and home of one of the great Mayan empires. These awe-inspiring monuments were left as a reminder of the incredible Mayan culture. Our English-speaking guide will have approximately 3 hours to escort us through this legendary city, which extends over 6 square miles and contains hundreds of structures throughout the area.We will have the opportunity to visit the Pyramid of Kulkulcan, which is now one of the seven wonders of the world, the largest best preserved Mayan ball court, the mystical Cenote where human sacrifices were performed, the Temple of the Warriors and the Observatory, where Mayan priests accurately calculated celestial events from over a million year span.Please note that this tour involves a considerable amount of walking over grounds, which consist of limestone, therefore extra caution should be taken. This tour is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair passengers. Comfortable walking shoes, sun cream and a sun hat are highly recommended. There is a US $5- $8 (correct at time of printing) tax for the use of video cameras in all areas of the ruins. Professional video cameras and tripods are not allowed. A packed lunch will be provided by the ship, however this must be eaten on the coach, as no food items are allowed in the ruins.
