This excursion is ideal for those guests wishing to visit the exquisitely preserved medieval town of Bruges and to have free time to visit the annual Christmas Market. Each December the centre of Bruges is transformed by the small, but charming, Christmas Market that takes place in two of the city's squares.

Our coach will take us from the ship to Bruges, where our guide will escort us to the city centre. Having given us information about the sights and shopping opportunities, our time is then our own.

We are free to browse around the pretty stalls selling a tempting array of handmade Christmas decorations, gifts, chocolates and lace as well as tasty local delicacies and warming glasses of glühwein. The traditional step gabled buildings decorated with sparkling lights, the huge Christmas tree and the ice rink in Market Square all add to the delightfully festive atmosphere. There is also the opportunity to enjoy a snack (at our own expense) during our free time.

After approximately two and a half hours we meet up with our guide again to rejoin our coach and return to our ship.

TOUR NOTES: The coach journey each way is approximately half an hour. The walk to and from the meeting point in Bruges will take approximately 30 minutes. Refreshments are not included, but may be purchased at the Christmas Market at our own expense.
