PADANG BAI, INDONESIA

We shall visit the Ubud centre before continuing on to visit the Ubud Monkey forest. The monkey forest is a small nature reserve, which is home to both the Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal temple and over 200 monkeys, most of which are Macaques.

Departing from Padang Bai, we shall commence our tour with an approximate 60 minute drive to Mas village, where we shall visit a typical Balinese house compound. Here we will be shown the aspects of daily life, including a visit to the family temple. Refreshments and local delicacies will be served as we watch the local families undertaking every day jobs, such as chiselling away with their carvings and young children partaking in dancing lessons.Refreshed, we leave the village and proceed to Ubud. Ubud is a beautiful town located in the middle of Bali. For more than a century, it has been the island\'s pre-eminent centre for fine arts, dance and music. Walter Spies who taught painting and music, and dabbled in dance came to Ubud. Spies along with other foreign artists entertained both locals and celebrities during their stay. It is believed that they brought in some of the greatest artists from all over Bali to teach and train the Balinese in arts.We shall visit the Ubud centre before continuing on to visit the Ubud Monkey forest. The monkey forest is a small nature reserve, which is home to both the Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal temple and over 200 monkeys, most of which are Macaques. Next we visit Pura Wulandari – a boutique and spa resort. We shall stop here for lunch, before enjoying some free time and listening to the local Balinese rindik music.Refreshed we shall rejoin our coaches for our return journey. If time permits, en route back to our ship we may make a stop at a local painting gallery.

Please note that this tour involves a moderate amount of walking, most which may be over uneven, grassy terrain. Some steps may be encountered. We recommend that you wear comfortable, light weight clothing and non-slip shoes. Please do not bring food along to feed the monkeys. There will be toilet facilities at each of the stops, however these may be very basic. A bottle of mineral water will be available during our coach journey and tea and coffee will be served with local savouries at Mas village. Lunch will include a glass of house wine, a small bottle of local beer or a soft drink. Any additional drinks you may wish will be available to purchase locally.
