Commencing with a short orientation tour of Montevideo, we are then transferred to Estancia La Rabida – a drive of approximately 90 minutes. The owners will welcome us upon our arrival and take us on dray trucks, or traditional old wagons for a ride around the fields, including the three kilometres (one and a half miles) of beaches on the shores of the Rio de la Plata. (Horses are available for those who wish to ride, but this would be at their own risk). On our return we can try our hand at some typical rural activities such as sheep shearing and milking. We will be treated to a typical barbecue lunch, consisting of different salads, beef, chicken or lamb, a dessert (homemade custard or fruit salad), soft drinks, mineral water and wine will be available while sitting on straw bales (optional). There is quite a lot of optional walking involved to get the most out of this enjoyable tour. Comfortable shoes and loose clothes are the recommended attire.
