GRAND TURK, TURKS & CAICOS
Once mounted on our horse, we will go for a leisurely walk along the beach whilst enjoying the view of the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean. During the ride, we will learn about the history of the catchment area that can be seen in the distance, before beginning our swim in the ocean with the horses
Departing from the quayside, we shall join our coach for an approximate 20 minute scenic coach journey along the coast and across the island. En route we shall pass the Governors Beach, the local airport and one of Grand Turk’s natural Salina’s that has been newly renovated to show visitors to the island, how salt is obtained in its natural form (Salt was once grand Turk’s main source of income). We will also drive past the charming little city of Cockburn Town, the administrative and political capital of the Turks and Caicos Island, before reaching the Grand Turk indigenous Horse Shelter where our tour will begin.Once mounted on our horse, we will go for a leisurely walk along the beach whilst enjoying the view of the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean. During the ride, we will learn about the history of the catchment area that can be seen in the distance, before beginning our swim in the ocean with the horses. Our guides will then unsaddle our mounts and prepare them for the swim. Once unsaddled we will re-mount our horse, with a halter and enter the ocean for the ‘experience of a lifetime’. Following our swim we will have an opportunity to take a shower and relax before being transferred back to our awaiting ship.On the return journey we can enjoy the view of the North Creek where many locals have their boats moored. It is also the only hurricane shelter for yachts travelling between Nassau and Puerto Rico. If we are lucky we may even catch a glimpse of the famous endangered ‘pink flamingos’ whilst they bask in the sun in the many Salina’s on the island. Please come already wearing your swimsuit under your clothes and wear a sensible pair of shoes that you do not mind getting wet.
