Leaving Lisbon through Monsanto Park we arrive at Sintra, a popular Old World village resort nestling in tree-clad hills north of Lisbon. We will see the outside of the Royal Palace with its two kitchen chimneys, like those of our oast houses. The Palace is Moorish in origin and is one of the oldest buildings in Portugal. After a short stop in the square at Sintra, allowing us to wander at leisure or visit the shops, our tour continues to Cascais.Just before we arrive in the picturesque town of Cascais, we make a photo stop at the beautiful Praia do Guincho to admire the scenery, including the most westerly point in Europe, Cape Roca.Once in the centre of the lively resort of Cascais, we can admire the attractive bay or sit in one of the fashionable outdoor cafés and watch the world go by. We return to Lisbon along the River Tagus, passing by the famous seaside resort of Estoril en route. There is some walking during this tour at each of the stops, some of which is optional. Please note that there is a steep slope up from the coach park to the main square of Sintra.
