MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA

Venture to one of the most picturesque places in Jamaica, the “Land of Wood and Water”, for a unique Jamaican experience.

Venture to one of the most picturesque places in Jamaica, the “Land of Wood and Water”, for a unique Jamaican experience. After leaving our ship we will enjoy a countryside drive along the coast; seeing the rural life-style of Jamaica en route to the Martha Brae rafting centre where we will be greeted with a welcome tropical drink on arrival. Picture ourselves on a bamboo raft built for two, gliding slowly down a river that meanders gently through whispering groves of bamboo and ferns, listening to the chatter of birds and the soft chop-chop of the raft man’s pole. As the raft makes its way past shaded banks and dappled sunlight as the mild river breeze washes over us, hear the story of the “Matibereon” as we float along the river, relaxing in an atmosphere of tranquillity over the 3 mile journey for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Arriving at the Rafter’s Rest, the bus awaits for our return trip to Ocho Rios. During the drive back to the ship, a rest stop will be made near Discovery Bay, where Columbus first landed in Jamaica. Please note that this tour does include a small amount of walking over pebbled and uneven paved land.
