This tour includes a drive through the bustling heart of Nassau, featuring the Government House and other historic buildings. We proceed through town via the shopping district of Bay Street, past the Native Straw Market en route to Fort Charlotte. Built in 1787 to protect the harbour from pirates, the fort was a bastion of law and order in this colonial frontier of the ‘New World’. From the ramparts there is a breathtaking panorama. We will also ride over the Paradise Island Bridge, which takes us to the world famous Paradise Island where we will drive past the Atlantis Hotel and Casino Complex and the beautiful Cloister Gardens. En route back to our ship in Nassau we will take a journey through the outskirts of the city, where we can see the colourful residential areas. There is walking involved in this tour, including a 10-15 minute walk from the ship to the entrance of the pier, to board the tour vehicles (minibuses). There is also walking over uneven ground at Fort Charlotte. Due to traffic conditions the sequence of the tour may change.
