See the picturesque Lady Jane pool, a natural pool fed by cascading waterfalls, meander under the majestic canopy as well informed guides show us exotic plants like the Red Shrimp, Torch Lilies and Heleconias, and hear about the eco-systems which support the jungle-like vegetation. At the ‘Ooh’ and ‘Aah’ waterfalls, aptly named for their breathtaking beauty we will be offered a refreshing welcome drink. We can take advantage of the fantastic photo opportunity and also get our feet wet. Coming out of the thick vegetation of the rain forest, we will pass by the Brains Falls, so named because Mick Jagger commented that it “washed the cobwebs out of his brain”. We will see the Bromeliad Garden and continue on to the Koi Pond where we will get the opportunity to feed these rare and beautiful fish. Nearby is the Free-flight Aviary and the Wading Pond filled with swans and geese; stroll under the precious Jade vine walkway and visit the Walk in Aviary, which is filled with over 80 species of tropical birds. We will have the chance to learn about their peculiar lifestyles and if it is feeding time, they will eat right out of our hands. Finally we will visit the Fruit Orchard where we will see a host of Jamaican fruit trees, see the exploding blooms of the Orchid Garden and hear what makes these delicate plants with such exotic names like Dendrobium and Phalaenopsis. There is also the herb garden where we can hear about the medicinal and healing properties of Jamaican herbs. Please note this tour involves approximately 40 steps at the Enchanted Garden and 200 steps at the Dunn’s River Falls (if you intend on making the climb to the top). If you do decide to climb the falls, suitable shoes should be worn and a T-shirt and shorts over swimwear as well as a towel is recommended.
