From the harbour of Santa Cruz, we pass by the university town of La Laguna and cross one of the finest wine-growing areas on the island to reach Tacoronte and then El Sauzal, on the western coast. Continuing, we arrive in the resort of Puerto de la Cruz where, on the outskirts, we find the tropical paradise of Loro Parque, considered to be one of the most important parrot parks on earth. As well as the world’s largest collection of parrots, the park features many other attractions, such as a dolphin show, free-flying macaw show, sealion show, orchid house, Europe’s largest aquariums, sharks that can be seen in the world’s biggest underwater tunnel, tiger island, gorilla jungle, and a bat cave. We can also visit the Gambian Market and Thai Village. There are restaurants and snack bars around the park although no refreshments are included. After our visit, we return to the pier via the same route. This tour involves leisurely walking around the park. Lunch is at your own expense.
