Departing from the port, we will take a short drive in the direction of La Laguna in order to join the road to the Esperanza Forest, with its cool eucalyptus vegetation and tantalising glimpses of Mount Teide. Two photo stops will be made, before arriving at El Portillo, where we will make a short coffee break. Declared a National Park in 1954, Las Cañadas covers an area of 13,571 hectares and is in fact the interior crater of the mountain from which the majestic peak of Mount Teide emerges. From the nearby Ucanca Valley, we will also be able to appreciate the stark wilderness of the lava fields. After a photo stop we will return to the pier via the same route as before. This tour includes about 25 minutes of walking. As we shall be travelling up into the mountains, it is advisable to take a jacket.
