Leave Civilisation behind and step into a world time forgot! We will enter the sub-tropical rainforest on a nature walk and immerse ourselves in a Mayan community devoted to traditional chicle production, known today as chewing gum. Our guide will accompany us throughout the entire tour as we discover the remains of this little known culture and learn about their unique traditions, rituals, legends and customs.Departing from the quayside, we will travel for approximately one hour by coach to our starting site, enjoying an informative narration along the way. Upon our arrival our guide will lead us on a walk amongst the thousands of species of flora and fauna, pointing out the herbs and plants along the trail known and used for their healing powers. We will also see the remains of a chiclero camp whilst learning about the steps involved in the chewing gum production process.Included with this tour is a complimentary bottle of water. There are uneven jungle trails so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Sun protection and bug sprays are also highly advised. There is an optional drop-off at the end of the tour to explore the village of Majahaul. The drive to and from the site will take 65 minutes each way, a comfort stop will not be included. This tour will involve considerable walking over rough and uneven surfaces so extra caution should be taken, so as not to slip and fall. This tour is not suitable for passengers with limited mobility. A certain pace of walking will be required to ensure full enjoyment from this tour.
