TOUR F - BOTANICAL GARDENS OF NEVIS

    Excursions

    • 65-75
    • Approximately 4.5 hours
    • Limited to 120

From St Kitts it is an approximate 35-45 minute ride by sea taxi along the coastline of the southeastern peninsula, to the Sister Island of Nevis – known as the ‘Queen of the Caribbean’.

Upon arrival in the capital, Charlestown, we will take a short drive through this tranquil town, providing us with a glimpse of a simple but civilised lifestyle.

We then proceed through several sleepy villages to the Botanical Gardens. They cover eight acres and contain a diverse range of tropical flowers and trees, collected from locations around the world. The magnificent landscape is a serene place in which to stroll. There are sections to enjoy such as the Cactus Garden, Bamboo Grove, Orchid Garden, Water-Lily Pools and Tropical Fruit Gardens. A spectacular glass conservatory houses a tropical rainforest and a vast faux Mayan temple, with waterfalls, streams and ponds. Here we will be invited to sip a complimentary refreshment at Martha’s West Indian Tea House.

Back at the pier, the sea taxi awaits our arrival for the return boat ride to St Kitts.

TOUR NOTES: To make the most of this tour, a lot of walking is involved. Uneven ground and steps can be expected. Wear comfortable shoes, and do not forget adequate sun protection. What may be flowering is obviously dependent upon the season. The crossing time from St Kitts to Nevis can take up to one hour, depending on the sea conditions. Please note that it is illegal to wear camouflage in St Kitts.
